18 Must Know Photoshop Shortcuts

Knowing Photoshop shortcuts can help speed up your work time. Here are 18 Photoshop Shortcuts you must know if you want to be confident at using photoshop. Enjoy.

Note: I am using Window shortcuts, if you are using an Apple replace Ctrl = Cmd and Alt = Opt.

Font Size

Have text and size selected and press the up and down arrows.

Font Type

Layer View

Press on the eye icon to view layer

Layer Content Selection

Hold down the ctrl key and click on the box on the layer.

Create Folder/Layer

Duplicate Layer/Folder

Drag the layer or folder to the ‘new layer’ icon.

Collapse/Expand Folder

Merge Layers

Click on the above layer and merge pressing Ctrl and E.

Layer Opacity

Edit size of Layer Item

Select layer, press ctrl and T, with the mouse change size on image corners. As you change image size hold down the shift key if you don’t want to distort the image.

Toggle through Blending Modes

Go to layer, select blending modes and scroll through using up and down keys.

Small Layer nudge

Go to the layer, hold down on ctrl key and move using arrows.

Large Layer Nudge

Go to the layer, hold down on shift key and move using arrows.

Zoom to 100%

Click on the magnifying glass 2 times.

Change Workspace Background Color

Choose what color you like, select the Paint Bucket tool hold down shift and press the background.

Switch Between Multiple Documents

Press Ctrl + Tab to change open documents.

Brush Size

Select brush and change sizes using the bracket keys.

Change Layer Palette Thumbnail size

Click on the menu and go down to the Layer Palette Option and select.
